“Sadly, the political influence which has been exercised with respect to the commission has compromised the integrity of the enterprise. The governor clearly has a conflict of interest with respect to the commission. He had a personal role in the Willingham case” — Craig Beyler, arson expert.
Chron: Craig Beyler, the arson expert critical of the original investigation in the fire that led to the execution of Cameron Todd Willingham, is calling on the new appointees of the Texas Forensics Commission to resign.

Public Media Texas: Perry: Willingham Was A Monster
A hearing that was to include evidence that Texas killed an innocent man has been canceled. Texas Forensic Science Commission chair John Bradley canceled the meeting after he was appointed to the post this week by Gov. Rick Perry (R).
The Forensic Science Commission hired arson expert Craig Beyler to review evidence in the case against Todd Willingham. Willingham was executed for starting a fire in his house that killed his three young daughters. Beyler’s initial report raises serious questions about the case against Willingham. Willingham was executed in 1994 while Perry was in office.
Bradley tells the DMN that he canceled the hearing so he could get caught up on the case.
