Community Cars

Community Cars presents Kangaroo

The Kangaroo is a compact solution which is manufactured to include floor space for the wheelchair itself, headroom, appropriate door opening, ramp, automatic door opening system, lock-down mechanism, and modified driving apparatus. The driving apparatus can be either a motorcycle type control (pictured) or a joy stick such as seen on many motorized wheelchairs. Upon remote control activation, the hatchback rises and the ramp lowers to the surface level to permit easy access.

The electric vehicle industry will change rapidly over the next decade, with significant technology improvements in battery technology and infrastructure build-out. The Kangaroo will apply these improvements for the benefit of people with mobility impairments.

Accessible transportation is a powerful positive predictor not only of employment, but also of several other important quality of life indicators such as political participation, access to entertainment, socializing, and religious attendance.

Community Cars, Inc. was formed in June of 2010 and is based in Austin, Texas.

Community Cars designs, manufactures, and markets the KANGAROO electric vehicle specifically designed for wheelchair use.

The KANGAROO electric vehicle was developed by Kenguru Services KFT, a Hungarian company.

Community Cars is the exclusive manufacturer and distributor for North America.

The KANGAROO WILL BE AVAILABLE IN 2011 from Austin’s own Community Car.

Inquiries are welcome but will not be responded to until next year when the KANGAROO is being manufactured.

I use to work at C.A.R.T.s as a dispatcher. It is a good company and does the best with the buses and hours available. It was a real eye-opener about how many people are in wheel-chairs that need transportation. This is such a wonderful idea that could help thousands daily, just to have an independent life. Good Luck, Alethea Mcafee-Round Rock Texas

I just need one of your cars very badly. I cannot drive a huge van anymore it’s too hard. I’ve got to have some kind of independence and one of your cars would make all the difference in my life. Please send me details on how to get one and how much it costs. I am on disability and have very limited income so I hope it’s not too much. Thank you for making something so logical.
