Public Media Texas Internship Program

Public Media Texas is seeking self-motivated and innovative interns. The following positions are available immediately for experience or academic credit:

Election Blogger: Savvy political reporter needed to assist in our non-partisan coverage of the 2010 Texas House and Governor elections.

Arts and Culture Blogger: A curious reporter needed to cover events and emerging trends in the rich world of Texas culture. Profile artists and thought leaders behind the state’s great cultural institutions.

Criminal Justice Blogger: A reporter with a keen eye for legal detail while maintaining the larger view of justice in the Lone Star State.

Sustainability Blogger: Gas and oil still play a huge role in the Texas economy, but the state has also become a leader in alternative energy. We need a reporter to explore the intersection of regulation, economic growth and limited natural resources.

Photojournalist: Seeking a photo journalist to support staff assignments and produce standalone packages and slideshows.

Hyper-localist: A tech savvy intern is needed to implement hyper-local micro-sites. Python expertise and experience with Gov2.0 data a plus.

Public Media Texas was launched in the Spring of 2009 by National Public Radio to serve as a multi-media resource for public radio stations. PMT continues to research new cost effective ways that public media organizations can utilize emerging story telling platforms. The Public Media Texas Internship Program is designed to provide students and recent graduates with an opportunity to learn about public media and the public broadcasting system.

Candidates must be a graduate student, an undergraduate student, or have graduated from college within twelve months of beginning the internship. Interns must be able to work 10-20 hours per week. Accommodations can be made to fulfill full-time internship requirements.
