KUHF-Houston reports that with the estimated doubling of the Texas population to 45 million people by the year 2060 will increase demands of the supply of water from municipal areas.
While conservation of water is an important step to combat higher water usage rates due to population growth, The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) claims that implementing a handful of water conversation practices can save the average Texas household more than $1,000 a year off their water bill.
According to Texas Water Matters, San Antonio is a model city when it comes to making necessary water usage changes. Despite an increase in population by 300,000 utility customers in San Antonio since the 1980’s, water consumption has remained consistent.
